T-Mobile MDA Pro: on sale or not on sale? outmarcus 09-17-2005

A msmobiles.com recent article
(http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4288.html) reports that "T-Mobile MDA
Pro is now on sale in EU without subscription and without SIM lock for
mere 749 Euro".

In my opinion this is *FALSE*. I'm italian and I constantly search on
the web for buying one of this. Till today I didn't see a shop that
sells T-Mobile MDA Pro.
Even the official page states that it will come soon:
http://www.t-mobile.de/shop/handy/1,4855,2963-_4234-0-1-0,00.html.

I was only able to buy the I-mate Jasjar version for 1094 euro (VAT
incl.) on www.expansys.it, that now I have in my hands. There is the
Qtek 9000 at 1099 euro too. But no T-Mobile MDA Pro.

Did someone of you find the M-Mobile MDA Pro on sale for 749 euro
somewhere? and without sim-lock nor net-lock?

Marcus

> VPA IV for 729 Euro is for example here.

It's written "Verfügbarkeit: 1-2 Wochen" that means "Availability: 1-2
weeks. So it is no there yet, as you correctly stated on your article.
Furthermore, it's no written that it's net-lock free.

There are two types of lock: sim-lock and net-lock. I think that all
these HTC Universal available today under a provider brand are
net-locked, unless stated otherwise. One person said that T-Mobile said
that their phone is net-locked unless you pay 99,50 euro, in future,
when HTC will tell they how to do it.
Why do you think the oppose?

> Cheapest MDA Pro online I have seen at http://www.mobilejokder.de
> - for 779 Euro

Unfortunately you are wrong. In the mobilejoker.com MDA Pro page it's
written, just over the price, this: "Lieferbarkeit: 4. Quartal - Jetzt
vorbestellen" that means: "4th quarter - book in advance now".

> although some retailers want for it 799 Euro.

Some other retailers that wants money in advance for a pre-order?

> On the other hand on http://www.ebay.de one can get used MDA Pro
> for 650-700 Euro or new one for 725 Euro.

I saw those since the first ones that came out in the end of august
from blueshop24 seller. Most of those auctions state that it will be
available in a more or less determined future, so they are pre-orders.

The T-Mobile MDA Pro you can find on eBay that are no pre-orders are
with all probability all in german unmodifiable language with german
manuals and german O.S. (Windows Mobile). This means that they're
available for some (four, five, ten, twenty?) persons in deutschland,
not for "UE".

Furthermore, I still believe that they are all NET-locked (not
sim-locked, of course) with T-Mobile.

> All above mentioned retailers: in Germany. And price 749 for MDA Pro
> is a price for which one can buy MDA Pro in a T-Mobile shop on the
> street, not online.

.... for a net-locked and german phone, I presume. Anyway, in what
on-street shop you already (not in pre-order) found it for 749 euro?

> So all I have written is more or less correct.

More less than more?...

Is available in german T-Mobile shops. I was on sept 3th in Germany and
visited a T-Mobile shop with a few MDA Pro's available.
You can buy one without net+simlock by paying 749 Eur + 99 Eur unlock costs.
You will also have some T-Mobile added soft on your MDA Pro
If you understand some German, here a link
https://after-sales-service.t-mobile.de/eg_online/t-mobile/t_mda_pro.htm
and a users group forum
http://mda-treff.de/board.php?boardid=11
If you buy the MDA-Pro with a 2 years T-Mobile account, prices can go down
to 400 Eur.

Greetings

By searching the web with www.kelkoo.de , here a web-shop with MDA Pro
available (Verfügbarkeit: ab Lager):

http://www.gethandy.de/sess/utn;jsessionid=15432c8d7f80157/shopdata/0030_Angebote/product_search.shopscript?query=mda+pro

But don't forget: german soft , german qwertzu keyboard, german VAT incl.

Otherwise you have to go in a T-Mobile shop in Germany owned directly by
T-Mobile

Good luck !

Folks, just to make a few things clear:

The MDA Pro can be bought in the T-Punkt-Shops and if you buy them
without any contract you can unlock them FOR FREE!!

Just tell the staff that they will need to call the hotline and ask for
an unlock code. The hotline-staff will then ask you to fax the receipt
of your purchase to proof that you bought the device without a
contract.

About 1 day later you will receive the unlock code by mail.

That's how I did it....and I went to Germany to buy 3 devices.
