System Lock up after installation David 05-19-2005

Running XP sp2. The beta version worked fine, but after upgrading to this
release the system locks up. Specifically, I can index my entire system and
then when I attempt to launch any other application (excel, outlook, etc) the
system hangs. The problem is clearly with the new version as upon reboot and
disabling the search tool the system works just fine. I have installed and
uninstalled this app a couple of times.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks.

Yes, I had the identical problem on one of two PC's I use. My setup is like
yours: Windows XP SP2, and I used the beta.

I solved the problem by sucessively uninstalling programs I had recently
installed. The one that was causing the conflict in my case turned out to be
TweakMaster, which is a TCP/IP connection optimizer.

At the moment I finally have it up and running. However, I may have narrowed
down the issue. When my laptop is brought back from sleep I get applications
that hang. But, if I wait for 5min or so the application starts to respond
again. Therefore, I tend to avoid putting my system to sleep and instead
shut if down. Short run that is workable, but not long run.
