Syncing with Vista Using Bluetooth Jack Tingle 12-14-2007

I've never had much success with Bluetooth, and have always
pooh-poohed it. However...

My new Vista desktop PC came with a native Bluetooth setup. After a
few false starts*, I got my Dell X51 and the PC to recognize each
other, and sync. It is seductivly simple. Turn on the PDA's radio,
open Activesync, tell it to connect and then to sync, close
Activesync, and turn off the radio.

It's slower than the cable if there is a lot of data to transfer, but
for a simple daily sync, it's better than plugging in the wire. It
seems Bluetooth, now that it's more mature, might just be useful after
all.

Regards,
Jack Tingle

*Vista needs to do some setup that MS doesn't mention unless you hunt
for it. Gotta love the geniuses in Redmond. "Step 1 - screw up."
