Hi everyone,

My Dell Axim X5 was working perfectly until this morning when it lost
battery power and did a hardware reset (the backup battery doesn't
work despite being replaced several times, that's another issue!)

I went through the startup procedures and restored the device using a
very recent backup from the CF card. Everything looked great.

However when I plug it into my dock Activesync comes up with the
following:

Connecting
Connected
Looking for changes
Connected. Synchronization error.
Disconnected

and then refuses to acknowledge the device until I disconnect and
reconnect it, whereupon it repeats the process.

I've reinstalled Activesync and restarted the PDA without the CF card.
I've deleted the partnership (during which time I can guest browse the
device perfectly!) and recreated it.
I've unticked everything that I synchronise (to see it it's one of
those options)
and now I'm lost for options.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Extra information:

I've since discovered that from a hard reset I *can* synchronise but
from my restored backup I still cannot. I'd rather work from the
restore because of all my applications and settings.

This leads me to think there's something in my backup file that isn't
being set correctly upon restore.

Help!

Hi,

Which backup software are you using? Doesn't it have selective restore?
