First some info:
WinXP sp2 laptop running Outlook 2002
Synchronizing the laptop with both a PPC running WinCE 4.20 and a smartphone
running Windows Mobile v5.0.
Using ActiveSync v4.1.0 build 4841, (not sync-ing the mobile devices at the
same time).
The problem:
The changes made by my secretary in my agenda do get sychronized to the PPC,
but not to the smartphone.
ActiveSync returns the problem in a window, stating:
(translated in English)
The following appointments are not synchronized from the desktop (list of
all appointments) and reports service code 1.

Does anyone know where to look for an answer? Or how to solve the problem?
It's the same ActiveSync client.... all other appointments and contacts etc.
do get synchronized correctly.
I don't seem to find that service code either...

Hope to hear from you,
Nimby

There are a set of log files in the folder that will open if you choose
Start | Run and enter %tmp% as the program command line to be executed. The
log files have names like wce*.log. You can read through them and see where
the error is occurring (you can probably safely search for "error" in them),
and it should tell you what it's trying to sync. I can't hazard a guess as
to why it's failing, but knowing what's causing the failure might suggest
something (lots of notes associated with the item, long list of attendeees,
strange date for an appointment, etc.)

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the tip on the log file. It doesn't seem to help a lot though.
BTW: The items not sync-ing to the winmobile v5.0 smartphone are just plain
items. No notes, attendees or whatever.
The only reference in the log file to the sync problem seems to be a line at
the end of the sessions log stating (partly translated in English) <Error
Partner="" Code="1" Title="Attention"
Body="
The following items have not been synchronized from the desktop:
1. Subject: Directiecollege
Tijd: 2-10-06 15:30
Duur: 270 minuten
"/> - ASStatus.cpp(617)
After searching the registry for that key, I found it to be the value of the
item LocalDataSourceGUID, that's in the entry HKEY_USERS\.....\Windows CE
Services\Partners.
That entry has both a key for the PPC as for the Smartphone. It did strike
me that the content of those keys seems to be rather different from each
other, in the way that the PPC (Win CE v4.20) partner entry has a
considerable lot more keys than the smartphone one (WinMobile v5.0).

Can anyone make out anything of this info?

Regards,
Rutger
