Hi James,
To begin, perform a backup of your data on the device. Next make sure the
ActiveSync partnership is deleted before attaching the device. This way
when you setup the new partnership, you will be prompted with the "Combine
or Replace" dialog, choose Combine and the Contacts on your Smartphone
should be sync'd back.
