Hardware/Software : PDA HTC Tytyn II (Windows Mobile 6), ActiveSync
4.5, Desktop-pc Windows XP Professional, MS Outlook 2003

Hello,

The first time I tried to sync with the webmail from the companies
Exchange-server (I did this at home through WiFi-access) I simply had
to fill in my login name, password and domain. It all worked like a
charm and I was absolutely delighted !

Since then, whether I try to sync at home through Wifi, or with a USB-
cable to my desktop pc at work ActiveSync says the server uses
security certificates and it can not complete synchronisation for
Outlook (ActiveSync still works fine to transfer files etc.). Through
changing parameters etc. I have 'managed' to get several different
error codes (85030027, 80072ee7, 8501014, 85010002 & 80004005).

My contacts at my IT department say that the current version they are
running does not support Windows Explorer 7 and probably does not
support Windows Mobile 6. I'm not sure whether this is true or
whether they are just too lazy to bother looking up the necessary
security certificate to mail it to me. Anyhow, I seem to have hit a
brick wall there.

So I was thinking about the solution of Palm-devices where you can
sync your PDA with the Palm Desktop program. Is it likewise possible
not to sync with the companies' Exchange-server but only to sync to a
personal Outlook-folder on my desktop PC ? That way I could bypass my
reluctant IT department...

Thanks,

Johan

Hi,
If you install ActiveSync you can sync with Outlook. Just make sure you do
NOT configure Exchange on your device. If you did then delete the
ActiveSync connection for Exchange.
