Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone knows if the following is possible or think it
would be useful for someone to make an application that does it.
I can sync my smartphone with email via:
-Mobile 3G (high speed, high cost)
-Mobile GSM (Low speed, high cost)
-WiFi at home (High speed, low cost)
-LAN at work, connected via PC (high speed, low cost)
By default, I would like to download all my email messages and my
attachments onto my device - it is my primary work environment. However
this has a few drawbacks.
-If I am connected on a per byte method (mobile) this can get very
expensive.
-If I am connected via a slow connection, this can be painfully slow
I would love to be able to set a sync profile depening on the "cost" of my
network.
i.e.
-If connected via 3G, get full email, but only attachments under 25k
-If connected via GSM, get headers only
-If connected via WiFi (known access point) or LAN, get full email and all
attachments.
or something similar.
I can determine how often I sync depending on the time of day, but I would
like to be able to determine what I sync based on the connection I have.
Am I able to do this?
Thanks,
Dan
