Sync from Q to outlook yanks6rule 04-18-2007

So I have wireless sync setup on my Q to get mail when I am not in my
office. When I am in my office outlook does the trick. I tried doing
this with leaving messages on the server and using the username
recent:username and both times I got double e-mails. I now just
archive messages and whichever gets it first (outlook or Q) wins.
Since I only have outlook running when I am at my desk my Q wins when
I am away. The problem I am having is that mail gotten by my Q will
not sync back to my outlook and I don't know if this is because I
don't have the settings for my account on the Q but my mail shows up
in my outlook folder with wireless sync. Let me know if anyone can
help.

Thanks
Bob

Bob,

I can only say for me, but I couldn't figure out what is your setup and what
is your problem.

1. Is your server Exchange 2003, or something else?
2. Are you sync'ing with your server, or sending mail via POP3?
3. In case your server is Exchange and you are using POP3, why not to sync
directly with the server and forget the syncing with outlook?

Sorry I didn't include more details. I am pulling my mail from GMail
using POP so on my outlook account I have the mail setup to get mail
from GMail using pop.gmail.com. I do the same on my phone but instead
of setting it up through outlook I have it go out through wireless
sync. I don't know if this helps. This is the only way I know how to
do it. When I setup to get gmail using outlook on the Q it eats more
battery life because it checks every 15 minutes or so and then I have
my mail from outlook in one folder and my mail from gmail in another
when I sync.

Does this help...sorry for being new to this I just got my Q and I am
trying to get the most out of it.

Usually the setup will be like this:

1. Your Outlook will be your main POP client, and will get messages and
erase them from the server.
2. Your smartphone will be the secondary on-the-road client, and it will get
the messages (that were not previously got by the Outlook) and NOT delete
them (by default) until you delete them manually, empty your deleted items
(manually) and sync again.

Maybe the explanation above will help you understand.

Regarding the battery, you could set it for a longer time than 15 minutes,
than it will drink less juice from the battery.

Now, if you want some solution that will keep your Outlook and your device
synchronized regarding your Gmail, I think that the only one that works with
the desktop wirelessly nowadays is www.emoze.com

So with emoze you have to maintain a constant PC connection and my
laptop is not always on the internet so that would not work for me. I
could do the same with wireless sync but have it push to outlook and
then to my phone. What I don't understand is why my phone can't push
the mail it has to my PC. Everything works except for that if I
recieve a message on my phone it will never appear on my desktop.

If I am understanding what you say I can have my phone be secondary
and leave the messages on the server and then when I get back to town
outlook will then download everything because it is still on the
server but then everything I did on my phone won't match what is on my
desktop and there are times I am gone for multiple days. Maybe I am
not understanding how this works, but it seems that I should be able
to get the messages on my phone and then sync the two so they match if
the phone has something the desktop does not it will go over to the
desktop and vice versa.
