Recently did new XP install, including ActiveSync 3.8 & hard re-set of PDA
device and installed Microsoft Outlook 2000. Everything was syncing and
working fine. Using XP Home, AXIM 5 & Pocket PC 2002.

Now when I sync I get the error message:

"Active Sync cannot log on to MS Outlook. Make sure Outlook is installed &
functioning correctly. You could have a conflict due to two folders on
this computer are named C:\Program Files/Microsoft and C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office. If so. rename the C;\Program Files\Microsoft
folder so that it does not contain the word "Microsoft." If this folder
contains subfolders, you may need to reinstall programs in the renamed
folder."

The interesting this is that "AvantGo" & "My Inbox" sync successfully but
contacts, calendar do not sync successfully

Is this safe to do what the error message suggests ? Where exactly do I
find these folders? Why all of a sudden would this error message occur
after working fine?

Hi,
The problem is with the names of the folders when you installed
applications. Be careful when renaming folders because it affects the
applications that are installed in them. I suggest identifying which folders
in C:\Program Files contains the word Microsoft in them and consider
uninstalling the other application, reinstalling ActiveSync, testing
synchronization and then reinstalling the other application.
