Sync Contacts to Storage Card in WM5? MS 04-17-2006

I recently got a T-Mobile (USA) MDA, a version of the HTC Wizard, a Pocket
PC Phone running WM5.

I see that Notes in PPC5 has the option to save the notes to the storage
card, rather than main memory. I set that option, to save on main storage
memory.

However, ActiveSync (4.1) doesn't seem to recognize notes on the storage
card. It doesn't notice any notes stored there, does not sync them to the
PPC. I even moved all my notes from main memory to the storage card. The
Notes applet on the PPC still recognized those notes, just the same as if
they were in main memory.

However, when I synced with AS, it didn't see the notes on the storage card
at all, and synced all the notes again to main memory. Then, when I looked
at the notes on the PPC, I saw all the notes duplicated, since they existed
in both places. I had no other choice but to delete those on the storage
card, and change that option of saving notes to storage card back to main
memory. (Having that option is useless, when ActiveSync doesn't recognize or
sync to notes on the storage card.)

Is there any way around this? A registry hack perhaps, that would allow
syncing the notes to the storage card of the WM5 device?

Thank you for your assistance. :-)

You can only sync notes that are on the device itself - not an
external storage card.

I see in the Subject heading I wrote "Contacts". I meant "Notes". (Although
I'd prefer to sync everything to the storage card, including Contacts.)

It's strange that they now offer the possibility to save Notes to the
storage card rather than to main memory, but then those saved Notes will be
ignored by ActiveSync, and not synced to desktop Outlook.

Is Microsoft aware of this discrepancy?

When are they going to work on fixing the numerous problems of ActiveStync?
It's so bad, I think it could drive people away from Windows Mobile devices.
(Do Palm devices have a better sync program?) (I've never used one, so I
don't know how they sync.)

The discrepancy has been around since Day 1 - you have never been able
to sync notes on a storage card (you have always been able to save
notes to a storage card).
