I got lost of the supervisor password for my Toshiba notebook computer in
Toshiba Console. Can someone advise how can I restore or reset the
password.

That's a tough one Scott. I think you might need to get back to the
manufacturer.

Thousands of laptops a year are stolen. I wonder how the thiefs get
hold of those passwords.

I suspect many get binned, or stripped for the parts.

My home was burgled a few years back. The thiefs took, among other
things, two ancient laptops. One was a 386 machine running DOS, simply
used for incoming faxes. The other was a Win 95 machine that I just had
left in a corner. Even in those years, the resell value of these
machines was zilch. I think the theives just took them because laptops
are known to be expensive.

That is true, but at the same time thousands of passwords a year are
forgotten as well (and a few laptops malfunction in ways that
effectively create an unknown password).

Not all requests for password assistance come from thieves (although I
agree that some do).
