Looking for a USED or NON-WORKING Seagate Momentus ST980815A - Version
5400.3, ATA-100, 80GB Laptop Hard Drive to salvage the controller/connector
board from. Doesn't really matter what condition the drive itself is in,
just as long as the controller board is in useable condition.

Any and all assistance appreciated - GW

How much are you willing to pay for one? What about EBay? Craigslist?

Been there - done that! On both of them. There are a lot of new drives out
there but I haven't been able to find one for parts. - But I do appreciate
the response.

As to price - I already have $129.00 tied up in the drive I am trying to
repair. It is a new drive but is not covered under warranty because I
managed to break one of the connector pins - which is classified as
"customer abuse" in most circles. Based on advertised prices, I have found
new drives listed anywhere from about $65.00 up to roughly $135.00 depending
on the seller, so I'm really not looking to put very much into a non-working
drive.

Assuming I can locate one, I believe $10.00 - $15.00 plus the actual
shipping costs would be a reasonable price for a non-working drive (or the
board from one).

Thanks again - GW
