Standalone CA won't generate .crt file mobcdi 02-20-2006

 I am having a problem with a standalone root CA on a windows 2003
server with all SP's and patches installed.

I am using the MMC console to manage it but can't get it to generate
the crt file for the requests I approve.

When I import the request file and choose to issue the certifcate, the
request moves to the issued certificate but I can't find the .crt file.


On the certification path tab of the properties pages. I can view the
cert for my CA but not the actual cert that was requested and approved.

Anyone able to help me out

 You mean the .cer file that contains the certificate and public key?? If you
look in the CA Management Console it should show what certificates it issued
and you should be able to view and export them from there. --- Steve

Sorry was unavailable to respond till now.
I can view the certificate details I have "issued" using the Management
console but can't find the actual file I need to transfer to the server
I want to use the cert.

Is it possible to use just the MMC to submit a new request, approve it
and generate the necessary files?

If you can view it, you can export it.
When viewing the certificate, go to the Details tab and
click the Copy to file button. You can export as Base64
or DER for your purposes. I would recommend Base64
though (for no particular reason)

Well don't I feel stupid, thanks for the help. I tried to export before
but as I was using the wrong file extension it didn't work for me, off
now to hide my head
