Hi

Are there many handhelds out there that have a phono output for earphones
(so that I can listen to content while on the train without disturbing
people)? The tech specs I see online just seem to state that audio output
is 'speakers' but no mention of the option to use a headset of some kind.

Also, just how compatible are MS Pocket PCs with XP software?

What I'd like to be able to do is run Netg Learning Studio courses so that I
can continue my self-training while on the way to work on the train...

Cheers all!

iPaqs do. I use mine as a huge, heavy, crap, iPod substitute.

Not even remotely. As someone has already pointed out, they use a
different processor, and "Winblows Mobrule" is about as much use as a
chocolate fireguard. Nothing is the same as XP, which shows vague
glimmers of competence. I got so sick of "Winblows Crap Everything"
that I installed Linux on the box instead. That has its problems
also, but it's about a billion times a better O/S.

Most of the iPAQs that I am aware of have a socket for headphones.

Not compatible at all. Pocket PCs use a completely different processor
(xscale) to IBM compatible PCs (X86). The instructions have no similarity
whatsoever.

OK, there's an acronym I'm not aware of...

I'm guessing "So Out Of..." something-beginning-with-L...?
