Hi Terry,
The error you mentioned is often associated with .NET applications. Have you
installed any media centre - or windows media player - plugins recently? They
may be the cause of your problem.
There shouldnt be any issues using the k-lite codec pack. I use it on my
media centre without any issues. The third party plugins are always required,
as windows can only play a select few video formats on its own.
