Some questions about Desktop Search JohnB 06-05-2006

1) We'd like to control pragmatically which directories and which email
folders are scanned by the WDS. If we can control when they are scanned, that
would be even better.
2) In order to integrate with WDS without user interaction, we'll need to
programmatically set certain options. These are stored in the registry, but
it is unlikely we can reliably modify the registry entries. WDS does some
unusual things with its registry entries.
3) We'll need to know what logging or analysis is possible with WDS. We've
had a few situations where we are not getting the results we expect, and we
don't know how to research the problem.
4) We'd like a little more control over the property mapping. WDS shows
particular properties in its results page, and we'd like to set those
properties programmatically

Hi John,

For a lot of this you would want to use Group Policies with the appropriate
WDS ADM file.
you can find that and the Administrators Guide here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/desktopsearch/enterprise/downloads.mspx

You may also want to ask about the logging and programming aspects at the
WDS Dev forum
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=111&SiteID=1

I hope that helps!

Jeff
