So by the looks of it, unless i was looking at purchasing thousands of
cards (and want to pay a consultantcy bucketloads to implement) i
should forget about using smart cards in Aus.... very disappointing.

Correction: you won't get help from the card vendors. But that's pretty
close. We have discussed this with other OZ MVPs the other day - small
business isn't considered a market for PKI solutions (besides the Web site
certificates).
