The "saved queries" are just regular explorer shortcuts. If you drag the
desktop search icon from the address bar of the results view, you can put it
on your desktop or in any folder. You can also add it to your favorites and
then drag and drop it from there. Any time you run the .lnk file it will run
the query, giving you a basic "smart folders" kind of experience. The main
advantage to smart folders (or outlook's seach folders) is that they can give
you a count of new/changed items, or turn bold, etc.
