When I send a shorcut to my desktop for a web page it may have a descriptive
picture for that site. When I restart my computer my picture icon is changed
to a blue "e" on a page. Why does this happen? Is there a setting for this
that I'm missing somewhere? Some icons seem to remain while others persist
in changing to my explorer "e". My shortcut for this site (XP Newsgroups)
originally was a white page, later it went to a blue and white "M". Now it's
an explorer "e" on a page.

Anyone know?
Thanks,

That happens to my shortcuts in both browsers, but I never went to an
Internet Explorer newsgroup to find out why.

Perhaps you should.

On my MCE 2005 system with IE7 I did a search for all .ico files on my
system and then displayed them in thumbnail mode since many had the same
name. I then copied the ones I wanted to my documents folder and gave them
the name of the site they were from. I then when into properties of the
default icons on my desktop and changed the location of the ICON to use.

I have this same problem. It started after the last update to windows. I
think a bug has been incorporated into this version. We may have to wait for
the next update. I can't seem to get a developers attention that there is a
problem. Replies that I do get seem to be generated by software. No human.

Let me know at Monte@montierth.net if any work around is found, Please.
