There are thousands of options, and the review sites are all sketchy.

I'm trying to find a solution that will work for our setup:

Bluehost hosted site
50,500+ item database
Linkpoint / YourPay Connect gateway

I've hacked away at osCommerce for six months, and have simply given
up trying to get it to work with our situation. EasyPopulate doesn't
like our .csv files, the payment gateways won't install properly, the
stylization of the pages is difficult for someone of my experience
level to edit, etc.

Has anyone had luck with a particular cart solution, or problems with
another?
Any recommendations for this particular case?

all this kind of shopping cart software doesn't work for you, you
probably need build your own shopping cart.

If you're with Bluehost, they have CPanel with Fantastico installed.
Using Fantastico, install ZenCart. It's based on OSCommerce, but is not
at all user hostile like OSCommerce is. EZPopulate works splendidly with
it. In the last few years, EZPopulate has supported ZenCart, not
OSCommerce.

I've built 4 Zencart sites that are up and running right now - no worries
at all. The templating system is great, and the support forum is
splendid.

just my $.02, though your mileage probably won't vary.
