Trying to upgrade to Service Pack 2.
Results in a failure (Error code 0x80246008), I used several pieces of
information to no avail - I made sure the Background Intelligent Transfer
Service (BITS) was 'Automatic' but it would not change the status to
'Starting' as advised it would. I also registered the Qmgr.dll and
Qmgrprxy.dll BITS files, but did not work either.

I feel I have exhausted all possible answers and I am still no closer to
upgrading. I have a little technical knowledge but find this is out of my
hands.

In my update history I amfailing on:
Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP
5.1 (KB842773)

I am unable to download the new Windows Media Player 11 because of this - I
did have this program but for some unknown reason I only have WMP 10.

Many thanks

It would help if you told us what you are trying to upgrade. If it is the
2005 version of MCE that you are running, then upgrading to SP2 is
unnecessary, since MCE 2005 already includes SP2.
