Last week I lost the ability to use voice calls on my pda2k
===Details;===
I can make calls and calls come in, but I can't hear the caller through
the speaker or headset and have been told that they can hear me, but
only very faintly.
The speaker and microphone work fine when used with PPC applications.
I can still make gprs data connections and use text messaging
I executed a hard reset on the device and that did not help.
Sim card in or out makes no difference
Nothing is checked in the safe backup dialogue
Then, today, I tried to use the camera using the hardware button and got
a "failed to initialize" error. (and missed a great shot)
I tried to start the camera app with the icon and got the same result.
I executed another hard reset and the camera software didn't even install.
I noted that the "call duration" stats in start/system/deviceinfo _were
not_ reset to zero by the hard resets... this suggests that there is the
possibility of doing something else to reset the phone part of the device.
All of this started with the trial of a Plantronics 320 BT headset... I
still strongly suspect that something in that process killed the voice
circuits... anyone know how to hard reset the phone side (the battery is
now out to try to kill everthing)
============
Up until now this has been my favorite PPC and I really don't want to
conceed that it's useful life is only a year and I really don't want a
WM5 device... it's as if the os has been timebombed or a worm is eating
its insides.
Help!

I've encountered too many "brick" stories over the years to consider
that... even reflashing with the pda2k rom update was "iffy" as the rom
update process failed on my sync computer, then failed to even connect
with the rom loader on three subsequent attempts.
I then loaded the updater on a different (newer/faster) computer, and
was able to finally finish the update, but I was pretty sure for a long
while that I had just bought my very own brick.
Waiting for imate to respond to an email following multiple failed
online help attempts... if there are no options there, will crack the
case and look for physical damage (loose connections, corrosion, etc)
then just use it as a non phone/camera pda until something else comes along.
