No to almost all of that....

We use OWA (which replaced MIS with Exch 2003) via SSL over the cell. We
don't use WiFi because Verizon devices don't 'support' it. There isn't a
problem connecting to the network, all new mail/appointments/contacts come
down with no problem.

It will not sync wiuth the OWA server via cradle because you cannot access
the SSL site inside the firewall (a policy set by our security group, silly,
but still policy). I suppose you could turn off the SSL on the device and
possibly make it work. A host file is not only not needed, but frowned upon,
DNS entries change, and people forget about the host file. Regardless, it
just plain doesn't like it and Verizon has the blasted thing so locked down
I can hardly even get Citrix to work properly over it.

Yes, I'm quite sure, 443 is open on the firewall.I alos host our Citrix
farm.

I know what the problem is, but I just don't know how to fix it. The problem
is directly related to the KB article link I put in my initial posting, I
just can't get a straight answer from either MS Premier Support or from
NA/MacAfee as they just point fingers at each other. The problem is due to
Groupshield scanning on access which locks the filestore making ActiveSync
impossible. However, when you enable GS for proactive, it maxes the
processor on the Exchange boxes... Damned if I, damned if I don't. As I said
previously, another user (an admin/tester for Cingular) said there was a
whitepaper out on the web about this, but I just haven't been able to find
it. Perhaps I'm just not asking the right questions.

Thanks again for the response.

Hmmm... Sorry I ran out of ideas. If the connection is ok, and it actually
shows that something is happening but then it stops.

Have you had a look at the server's Event Viewer for any error message?
Perhaps the user in the AD does not have enough rights?

Just trying other things now.

Hi, did you ever get this issue resolved? All my Pocket PC 2003
devices stopped wireless sync since last Thursday (7-14-05) when
Verizon said "they were making changes" ... since then we connect,
"looks for changes" and never completes the sync,

no changes to our system, was working for more than 6 months

2003 Exch and AD, Sonicwall 3060, Verizon DSL

Thanks

Justin

Got this working, I changed my MTU settings in my SonicWall 3060 from
1492 to 1500, everything worked and my DSL speeds fly now.
