Sent Items on Windows Mobile 5.0 Smart Phone edition ITOC 11-28-2007

For some reason I am unable to keep track of sent mail from my handheld
running Windows Mobile 5.0. The option on Outlook on the PDA to keep a copy
of sent items is checked off. However any mail sent from the device is not
saved in the sent items folder. The device automatically sync's over the air
with our exchange system.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I see the same problem with my PPC-6700. I found that if I go into
'Tools|Manage Folders', select "Sent Items" as a folder to synchronize, and
do a Send/Receive, the emails I've sent magically appear. If I then go back
into Manage Folders and remove the "Synchronize this folder" checkmark from
Sent Items, the emails disappear again. FWIW and YMMV...

I see, so it sounds like a bug, I'm going to test the same thing on Win Mob
6.0 shortly.

No problem on 6.0, I went back to 5.0 and tried your suggested method, they
are now showing up, I did have the sent items selected, I unchecked it, ran a
sync, checked it again and ran a sync, all the sent items then showed up.

Thanks.

Not sure that's a bug. You are syncing with Exchange and your sent mail is
saved in the Exchange Server message store. If you do not sync the saved
message store to your PPC, they wouldn't be shown on the device. I expect
the check box is there either to support generic options for Outlook sync or
PoP3 sync, or affects whether mobile generated messages are saved on the
Exchange server. I wouldn't expect the latter though.

I know that mail sent from the PPC is not saved on the exchange store, but
mail sent from a regular outlook exchange client should show up on the PPC
isf synchronization is working properly.
