I am seeking the services of a developer for an application for Windows
Mobile 5.0 on the AT&T Samsung Blackjack i607. Future compatibility with WM
6.0 on the same device is desired as well, if possible. I would like to have
an application that allows the user to toggle on and off the keyboard
backlight, the display backlight, and the LCD display. The primary objective
is power savings.
Requirements:
1. The application should be assignable to a key though the usual WM 5.0 key
assignment option on the Blackjack. i.e. Right Soft Key, or long press of
the button on the side of the device (also known as the camera key).
2. When toggled off, the keyboard backlight, display backlight, and the LCD
display will simultaneously turn off until they are toggled back on by
pressing the assigned key press again. Therefore, the ONLY two ways all
lights will come back on is if the user presses the key assigned to the
application or there is an incoming phone call. For all other events, such
as an incoming SMS message, reminders and notifications, USB connection to
Active Sync or Mobile Device Center, keyboard presses, etc., the lights will
stay off until the assigned key is pressed again by the user to turn the
lights on.
3. Once the lights are toggled back on, their behavior will revert back to
their existing settings in the Control Panel. (timeouts, brightness, etc),
until they are toggled off again.
4. No user interface is required for the initial release. The potential for
a configuration form to customize the backlight behaviors based on device
event types is a possibility for future releases.
5. Programming should be performed using the .NET 2.0 Compact Framework and
C#. Once completed, ownership of the code will transfer to me.
6. I believe this is feasible. The functionality I am seeking is very
similar to the "Toggle Screen" option in Windows Media Player 10 on the WM
5.0 Smartphone. The difference being I am seeking a stand alone application
that does basically the same thing.
7. I can perform testing on the device if you do not have access to a
Blackjack. I believe there may not be any way to effectively test the lights
on the emulator.
If you are interested please reply to this post and we can arrange an email
or phone conversation. Also, if you have any questions I am happy to answer
them for you.
Thanks!
Mark
