What is the best and the most common method for securing the communications
within a single site 2003 AD network.
A consultant mentioned IPSec, but I am not too famialr with this. Any
opinions welcome. most regards

Hi Carlo,

It is always tough to get at a "the most common" type of assessment,
it sort of implies one has looked most everywhere; and, just what
you have in mind as "securing communications" might not be what
someone else does (what is the concern? endpoint identity, message
integrity, message privacy, communication non-reputability, and for
everything, for email, all or some, for categories of docs, etc.?).

That said, IPsec _is_ the first and main technology devised in the
industry to address most all of what people see as "securing
communications", but other technologies might be used depending
on just what you have in mind (ex. rights management systems).

Microsoft website has documents on "domain isolation" that do
introduce use of IPsec with an AD deployment.
