I have a Toshiba 4020CDT that I just picked up that has a problem: It
comes up normally, but within less than one minute the entire LCD screen
turns white (lit up, but no image: solid white). It happens in both
Windows and even in BIOS setup, so it's not an OS or driver issue, it's
hardware. I've updated the BIOS, that made no difference. If you
switch the screen off and back on with Fn+F5 (toggle between LCD and
external CRT), it comes back, but it goes white again within 30 seconds.
While the screen is not white, it's perfect.
Does anyone know what is most likely to cause this symptom? Something
in the LCD panel, or something on the motherboard?
Thanks.

Rather go pointing fingers at this and that, the best thing to do is
to try the
monitor on another unit or try the computer on another
monitor.
Doing this will
save a lot of hassle and 'may' prove the cheapest,
process of elimination....
my guess it will be the monitor please
note it's only a guess.
At least doing
the above will eliminate one or the other.
Sod law say's you go and buy a new
monitor it'll be the computer, you
go out and buy a new graphic card or take the
computer in for service
it'll be the monitor .... and you'll get fleeced in the
process..!.
Having played with the bios it really would be better to try the
computer on anther monitor just to ensure that no further problems
has been
induced and is blameless, this then would give us a good
datum line where to
work from.
