Hi all,

I have bought a new M70 few days ago. Few times screen went black wbile
actively using system and did not come back by moving mouse and
pressing keys etc. But system remains active becouse I can hear windows
sounds when I press keys and monitor backlight can be seen. I only
managed to get display back by sending system stand by and waking up. I
have experienced the same problem while using Ubuntu linux. I can go to
service but this seems to happen quite randomly so I do not know if I
can proove the problem. What do you suggest?

Does screen go black, as in no power or grey as in no signal? If grey,
it could be a loose ribbon cable between video adapter and LCD screen.
Does rotating the LCD on the hinges cause any change?

Good luck, jimbo

Thanks for the answer. Actually grey and backlight can be seen, so it
is like there is no signal. I have thought the same at first and
rotated LCD it did not made any change.

OK, grey with backlight may mean a loose ribbon cable. But when my
Sony had those symptoms, rotating the cover would make the display at
least flicker on/off. Another thing to try is GENTLY twist the LCD and
watch for the display to at least flicker on/off.

My Sony eventually went grey permanently and I had to replace the
entire LCD assembly.

Good luck, jimbo
