Hi,
I've been running a small set of scheduled series, and recently changed
priorities so first run show A records a re-run, while re-run show B records
a first run. Show B was set priority over A. Evidently this has completely
irreversibly confused MCE 2005.
Now, show B does not record at all. I can add show A as a series, and it
doesn't matter if I tell it to only record at 1:30 am, it adds all the
re-runs from throughout the day. If I add show B using a keyword or from the
guide, it still doesn't show up under scheduled recordings, except maybe the
first episode that was picked from the guide.
There are no schedule conflicts.
Another thing: If I add show B using the keyword option, it doesn't show any
upcoming shows (though they are in the guide). If I add it using the series
option, and look at series info, it does show all upcoming episodes that are
in the guide, but they do not show up in the schedule guide. Wierd!
I tried deleting both series numerous times to try variations on adding back
each show. No (good) luck here!
So I did a search on this forum. Couldn't find a match. Then I found
"Recordings.XML" on the drive -- it was filled with rubbish -- such as
scheduled one-off recordings from last year. I backed up the file and deleted
it, then ran media center. It had no recordings scheduled at all, so this was
the right file to delete. But I still got the same behavior when trying to
add both shows A and B. After a while, I gave up, but before restoring the 1
MB Recordings.XML file, I noticed that the file had grown to 500K (should be
near empty). I opened the new XML file and found junk in there again --
scheduled recordings for series that have not been scheduled for some time.
Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong file?
Does anybody know where the scheduling database is, and how it can be reset?
I think there is corruption there. I have had problems in the past where MCE
never found episodes of a series that was clearly on the guide.
One more thing: I have tried manually adding the recordings using the
VCR-like settings. The shows are set to record every weekday, but only
schedule out for about a week, though the guide clearly shows out to two
weeks. I tried changing the system date to see if it was a software
scheduling limit -- only going out one week in advance, but this was another
mistake -- all shows scheduled from the new system date on were deleted, and
there wasn't any new manual shows added to the "scheduled" list.
Thanks for any help!!
