Hi All,
I have a raster toposheet published on a scale of 1:10000.
I wish to vectorize it (using on-screen digitization in ArcMAP), so
that I can claim that my output vector data is also at 1:10K.
Now, I want to know the reasoning behind adopting a scan resolution
(DPI), based on the SCALE OF THE RASTER.
For example, I can see that, If I scan this raster at say, 100 DPI,
then 1 pixel of the scanned image will represent 2.5 metres on ground.
(because 1inch=10000 inch and dividing 10000 by 100 (DPI) I get 100
inch, which is equal to 2.5 metres)
So, my requirement is to know (as i state above) what DPI to scan a
1:10K toposheet, 1:25 K toposheet etc..Also, what is the RIGHT scale to
zoom to in ArcMAP WHILE doing on-screen digitization.
thanks
