I seem to have found the reason for the following very annoying error:

"Media Center Receiver Service had encountered a problem and needs to
close."

Here are some details...

szAppName: ehrecvr.exe
szAppVer: 5.1.2715.2773
szModName: sbe.dll
szModVer: 6.5.2710.2732
offset: 00022eb6

It was the Sansa Media Converter SW that came with my Sandisk Sansa
e250. Removed the SW (after trying dozens of other things to solve my
problem) and that seems to have done the trick.
