I have had an SMT5600 for quite awhile now, it is through Cingular. I
noticed just the other day that even though I have no voice mails, I
still have the voice mail icon at the top of the bar. It won't go away.
If I shut down and restart the phone, it puts the Voice Mail icon on
the menu buttons, like it thinks I have voice mail. Is this a problem
with the phone or my Cingular Voice Mail box??

The icon's presence is controlled by the Mobile Operator, in your case,
Cingular. Leave yourself a voicemail, then delete it. I'm betting the icon
will disappear.

Andy.

Isn't there a setting in the phone that allows you to reset the
voicemail indicator? I seem to remember that.

just send yourself a voice mail and when you delete it just make sure the
icon goes before you hang up
