ok, I am going to buy a BT adapter

dooes one stand out for some reason against others?

any reccomendations are appreciated

I am thinking of going with the D-Link unit.

Well:

The differences that I know about are:

Class: Class2 is low power, class1 is high power. Higher power = higher
range. So if you need more than 30 feet or so, go for a class 1.

Bluetooth Version: 1.1 is old, avoid it. 1.2 is newer and has better
performance. 2.0 is brand new and has best performance.

Software stack: Microsoft's is horrid. Widcomm's is very nice. I'm
experimenting with BlueSoleil and so far i like the interface, but I haven't
formed an opinion on whether it's functionality is better or worse.

So I guesss the hot setup would be a class 1, version 2.0 device running
either widcomm or bluesoleil software.
