Not likely.
If you really want to strip out everything but the minimal needed for
your slide show, you will need to redo the ROM. Unless you are good at
low-level (device driver and lower) programming, you will need to load
some sort of operating system. If you want to use a modified version
of Windows CE (the operating system used for Pocket PC, etc.) you will
need to use Platform Builder from Microsoft, which costs >$10,000 U.S.
(I don't use it, so I'm not sure).
