I have two Toshiba Tecra laptops ( an 8000 and an 8200) the tops of the
trackpoint
caps are worn almost smooth on both of them. I was wondering if anybody knows of
a
source of replacements?

The local cybergeek shop doesn't sell them.

TIA

If you can find an IBM Thinkpad that uses the same style trackpoint
caps; you can get the appropriate part number and order them from IBM/
Lenovo parts.

you can buy them from toshiba and, hit or miss, on E-Bay. Caution the
wrong caps can damage the lcd.
