Please log in for more thread options Unfortunately, the faceplate mountings are at least manufacturer and
often even model specific. They (faceplates) cannot, in general, be
moved from one drive to another. Does this matter? In some cases no,
in other cases yes to the extreme (the drive may not close without the
right faceplate).
The bottom line here is that changing the optical drive in a laptop from
one model to another is a hit-and-miss proposition ... the only way to
know if it will work, unfortunately, is to actually try it (or talk to
someone else who has ... with the same laptop and optical drive models).
