I bought a Lenovo desktop with a celeron 1.6 conroe cpu. the board had a
intel 945 chipset on it with an 800fsb so I though any core2 with a 800fsb
would work. I put a e4600 core 2 in it and it booted and ran fine, the only
problem was that it would not shut down. Put the celeron chip back and it
worked fine. I needed an upgrade to the bios but no update available for the
lenovo board.
So I ended up building another machine using the cpu with the same chipset
but the board
was from gigabyte and it is running fine. So in answer to your question
maybe or maybe not.
