I needed to get my contacts/calendar into my pda so I created a new profile
at work and attached my pst file to this profile then setup my partnership to
sync this data ... cool, all worked a treat. Now i don't want to sync this
data anymore (i still want to be able to access my pda via activesync) but
how can I do this without activesync deleting all the contacts/calendar items
from my pda?

To prevent deletion, you need a second sync source, so the PIM data was
no longer exclusive to the one partnership.

I recommend mail2web.com. Set up a free hosted Exchange server account,
then sync with it. Then you can delete the partnership AND have an off-
site data backup, with a free Outlook Web Access connection to update the
info on a PC without affecting your desktop's Outlook data.

(This also makes "cloning" the data a breeze onto your next WinMo phone.)

Just go into AS options and uncheck the items you no longer wish to sync.
You can uncheck them all and AS will still connect and allow you to 'browse'
the PDA. Unchecking will not remove any data from either the PC or the PPC.

Sven - This is exactly what I have been doing and as soon as I do this 'AS'
states that if I uncheck these item (contacts/calendar) then 'AS' needs to
remove these from my device :-( .... I have even disconnected my device and
unchecked these items but when I reconnect the items then get deleted, also
if i disconnect my device and then delete the partnership then reconnect and
just setup a 'guest' partnership the items are again deleted.
