I had to "hard reset" my Acer n30b two or three times and consequently
restore all the data from my PC ( contacts, calendar, programs, etc.).
However, every single time I had to give my PDA a new device ID name, as
Active Sync pops up a message that the previous name is already in use. How
do I delete the old ID's in ActiveSync so that I can always use the same one
(= PDA) ??
Thanks in advance,

Mike

If you run the AS program while *no device is connected*, you can select
File | Mobile Devices | <your old device name>, and then File | Delete
Mobile Device. Then connect the 'new' device. This deletes the partnership
that existed with the old device and should allow you to create one with the
new device, giving it the same name as the 'old' one.

I have a similar problem but I can not use a particular Device Name, It
Keeps saying Device name is already in use. I have done a hard reset,
Deleted all partnerships deleted AcitiveSync and reinstalled no matter what
I do it will not allow me to use this Device Name.

Have a look into the directory <System Drive>\Documents und
Settungs\<User>\Application data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles
May be there is a subdirectory with the name you want to use. Remove it.
