Whilst removing MSN Messenger from Add/Remove Programs (to upgrade MSN), I
also removed (!) .NET Framework from PC, now get an error message at
start-up, IE does'nt work properly (offline), and generally PC runs more
noticeably slowly - where/how can I re-load this? Research I've found say to
use OS disks but am 'very' nervous of this approach.

Being a novice I tried going back to a Restore Point but this said nothing
had changed so unable to restore.

Have tried researching myself but am baffled by the techno-speak!

Google is ideal for locating software. There are multiple versions, each is
it's own application, i.e. ver 2 is not an upgrade to 1.1
