I would like to be able to connect to a server using a smartphone as if I
were doing the same from a PC using Remote Desktop Connection. If this is
possible I will be looking to get a smartphone so don't have a specific model
in mind.
Any help gratefully received
Thanks

Unlike the Pocket PC, Smartphones do not have the Terminal services
Client built in.

Check this post on my blog at
http://pocketpcmauritius.blogspot.com/2006/12/qa-remote-desktop-client-for.html.
These software let you acces your desktop from your device.

Make sure you get the version 1.0.1.17 I have a Q and which does not have a
Tab key and the Back Space is treated as a Back button bringing you out off
the app. The .17 version has some work arounds that help.

You may not be monitoring this thread, but if you are, I found out that the
Motorola XV6700 does have a Terminal Server client on it. You only see a
small slice of the screen at a time, but it does work.

1, the xv6700 is a PPC PE, NOT a Smartphone. I've published a BIG roundup of
all PPC TS clients (and EVERYTHING else) at
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1571&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 .
Please follow my articles / blog - I've covered almost all areas of Windows
Mobile in there..

2, for the SP, you'll need for example TSMobiles. See
http://www.shapeservices.com/en/products/details.php?product=tsm&platform=midp2
(also see THIS http://www.sharewareconnection.com/tsmobiles.htm ) for more
info.
