Remote Desktop Connection for Windows Mobile or Smartphone? Tim Murrray 07-06-2007

Does anyone know if windows mobile or a smartphone can run some sort
of remote desktop connection? I have a need to vpn into my work
computer to dial up a few traffic signals. The traffic signal
software is only pc based and it appears that I can use a mobile
version of the vpn software. The only missing link is the ability to
do a remote desktop connection from a mobile or smartphone.

I don't have a mobile or smartphone, so I can't tell if this is
possible. I'm able to do the above from a notebook, but would like a
little more portability.

I *REALLY* recommend following my articles as I've already answered most of

notebook?

Some implementations of Windows Mobile 5 include a Terminal Services client
(such as the O2 XDA range in the UK) but others (such as the Samsung i600) do
not. The same apllies to the Mobile Office applications. I have learned this
from personal experience.

I have a Cingular 8125 running Windows Mobile 5 and it has remote desktop and
VPN capabilities. I recommend a "try before you buy" approach though, as
Remote Desktop on a smartphone is tricky doe to screen size. However, if it
works for you, all the better.
