Hi,

I am running ActiveSync over Bluetooth and it works OK except for the
following problem :

I like to unplug the BT dongle when it is not in use for security
reasons and this means that if I boot up my PC without the dongle
fitted then ActiveSync 4.5 gives me a "can't find com port" error. It
then always puts up a dialog box that asks if I want to disconnect the
com port. When I say "no" it disconnects the com port anyway.

Is there anyway of stopping AS from complaining when it can't find the
com port and instead just pick up those connections that are available
at any given time ?

I have a feeling I know what the answer is going to be but I have to
ask...

Thanks,

Mike

Yes, that's just the way it is. I have the same problem, so I've boxed up
my Bluetooth dongle and gone back to the USB cable. I've not seen a way,
short of leaving the BT dongle installed, to prevent the port from going
away (well, I guess you could set up another type of port at the right COM
device name, but you'd have problems, then when reinstalling the BT port).
I've not had any luck getting AS to ignore the presence or lack thereof of
the port. I understand that, as it really does need to know that it's there
to work right in the average case...
