If the CMOS had been flashed with the wrong CMOS version, can there be any
recovery?

Try clearing the CMOS by removing the battery or doing the jumper
method-- it works for PCs, I'd imagine it works for Laptops?

And of course, by battery I mean the small CMOS battery on the
motherboard and not the actualy system battery- though before messing
with anything inside of the notebook you should indefinitely remove that.

It doesn't work for desktops or laptops.

If you really blow the BIOS with the wrong code, there are only a couple
ways out:

1. Use the emergency recovery procedure if there is one. This requires
that the BIOS have a "boot and flash" code block that is not flashable
and cannot be destroyed.

2. Replace the flash chip holding the BIOS with a correctly programmed
part. However, this chip is not always socketed.

3. Borrow a good chip and do a "hot flash". This involves changing the
bios chip with the machine powered up and running. It's risky, but not
quite as risky as it sounds.

Yes, sometimes. It depends on the laptop. In some laptops, there is an
emergency recovery process that will always work no matter what you do
(assuming that there has not been a true hardware failure).
