I finally pinpoint the cause of the recorded .dvr-ms on my C drive: Norton
Antivirus. However, the only way to totally prevent stuttering is to turn
antivirus protection off. I've even tried excluding c:\program files, Windows
Media Player, the MPEG-2 decoder, C:\documents and settings, and the eHome
directories, but it still stutters

Again, the only way to prevent stuttering on the C drive is to turn
antivirus off. If I record the DVR files to any other drive there is no
stuttering at all even if antivirus is on

I think with Norton you can selectivity turn anti virus off. In other words
look for the option to turn it off when reading previously recorded data.

Yes, I know that. that's what Im doing now.

After all I've tried to keep the AV on MCE
The question is: "What am I missing here? Is there some other component I
should exclude from Norton AV -- or should I just dump AV altogether"
