Dear Sir/Madam,
I write regarding an issue I seem to be having with ActiveSync.
What I actually want to do is install a suitable version of Real Player onto
my handheld PC (an O2 XDA Exec a.k.a. HTC Universal a.k.a. Qtek 9000) running
Windows Mobile 5.
I have downloaded the installation files for both versions offered by Real
at the following link:
http://www.real.com/realmobile/download.html?thanks=true&device=Pocket%2520PC%2520Devices
However, attempting to open either file causes an error message reading:
"Please install Microsoft ActiveSync 3.1 or any later version before
installing RealOne Player. You will need ActiveSync to connect your Pocket PC
to your desktop. Please, launch the RealOne Player setup again after
installing ActiveSync.".
The trouble is I have ActiveSync 4.5 and cannot, therefore, account for this
message. This appears to be a problem recognised by Real who provide a
solution at the following link:
http://real.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/real.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=854
...at the bottom of the page, which has not worked either.
Whilst I recognize that Real is an entirely separate company to Microsoft I
wonder if anyone knows how to either get this installation procedure to work
or, just generally, how I can successfully get a suitable version of Real
Player onto my Pocket PC.
Thanking you in advance (and wishing you a Happy New Year),
--

After attempt to install (not closing a window with warning!) go to a folder
your %TEMP%-path (like this: C:\docs_n_sets\<user>\Local Setting (hidden
folder)\Temp) and find file "realplayer.cab", ~1,5 Mb, in any folder. Copy
it to HPC (to any folder) and tap on file for installation.
