 Has anyone successfully edited the registry and unlocked their Motorola Q?
If so what are the steps to do so?

 Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies:
Change the DWORD named "1001" to 1
Change the DWORD named "1005" to 40

Hi,

I'd like to know what the unlock does to the phone? I just got the phone
but can't use it yet - network activation problems :(

When the phone is unlocked, you can install third party software.(including
many freeware apps) There are good apps out there that cannot be installed
when the phone is locked unless certified . The following link will provide
you with the correct information to unlock the Moto Q:
