Hi there, I am having trouble trying to sync an excel spreadsheet created in
Excel 2003 with my PDA running windows CE, the error I am getting is ...

Cannot convert file '<filename>'. This Microsoft Excel file was created in a
version of Microsoft Excel that is not supported by the selected converter.
The Pocket Excel converter can only convert Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 97 files.

do you know if there are any updates to the pocket excel converter so that
it can open Excel 2003 files . I am using Activesync 3.8.0 (Build 5004)

Pocketpc doesn't support all of the features of the desktop program. You can
buy third party programs that support most features- you don't say which
features/functions you are using which aren't supported but try Planmaker.
They have a pdf manual and offer a trial before you buy. There are other
more fully featured spreadsheets than pocketexcel- the names have been
posted in the past so check the newsgroup archives for more info.

Alan Thanks for your prompt reply, I am not using any features at all. The
spreadsheet simply contains data, no formulae or macros.

Hi,
ActiveSync will not convert password protected files as well.

Also, you can set the conversion defaults not to convert the Excel files
using ActiveSync - Tools - Options on the desktop. Then because the Pocket
PC can open the native files you are all set.
