Please log in for more thread options In addition to my music woes, I have a further phenomenon on which I'd like
others to provide comment - and not necessarily just Orange SPV C550 owners
like myself.
Trying to send a picture to a mate over Bluetooth had me tearing out what
little of my hair remains.
Why, when selecting 'Beam', can I not just send an object to a pre-paired
device? Why do I have to search for other devices that must be discoverable,
and why does it take so bloody long?
I have never come across an implementation of Bluetooth that is so
horrendous for the purposes of data sharing.
The Beam list was populated (albeit at a snail's pace) with devices (some
duplicated - inexplicably), but not all were found (I confirmed their
availability using other devices). However, attempts to cancel the Beam
caused the phone to lock solid for a good few minutes. Subsequent attempts
were flaky at best.
I did eventually succeed, but only after a good round of swearing, in which
time my mate had sent four or five large files to his Motorola E1000 handset
using an old Panasonic X70. Even when my C550 handset was sending, it was
painfully slow.
In the plus column, I cannot fault the connection to my Parrot DriveBlue car
kit, but Bluetooth is more useful than audio alone.
Have I a defective handset?
Can someone tell me why those fine ladies and gents at Microsoft come up
with such great ideas and then fail to test them adequately when pushing
them out to market? Why are we consumers used as test platforms when these
problems could have been detected and corrected much earlier in the release
phases? Where is Microsoft's commitment to quality?
To paraphrase Robert Kennedy: They offer all kinds of assistance, short of
actual help.
